The week of 18 August – 24 August 2016
Volume 28 Number 01
The 2016 Investor Day
of
icapital.bizBerhad will
be held on Saturday, 24th
Sep (Day 1) and Sunday,
25th Sep (Day 2) at the KL
Convention Centre.
In past years, share
owners were registered
for the Investor Day during
the AGM of
icapital.bizBerhad automatically.
This year, share owners
are required to register
separately for the Investor
Day. Share owners are
given free admission to
both Day 1 and Day 2.
Share owners who register
for the event after 21st
Aug 2016 will not get
guaranteed seating for
Day 1 or guaranteed entry
for Day 2.
Non-share owners
will be able to register
from 22nd Aug 2016
onwards. For the past 6
years since its launch in
2010, the Investor Day of
icapital.bizBerhad has
been the biggest investor
event in Asia. It has
been well attended by an
KLSE
Malaysia’s current
account surplus narrowed
substantially in the
2nd quarter. This is not
reassuring and needs close
monitoring as the Ringgit
would be under pressure
to weaken again. At the
same time, fears of a US
rate hike have resurfaced.
A rate hike or expectations
of a rate hike will add
extra downward pressure
on the Ringgit. For now,
i
Capital is retaining its
overwhelming number with
11,000 people registering
for 2015.
As its organiser, Capital
Dynamics continuously
seeks to add value to this
highly esteemed affair. This
year, the event strives to
encourage the attendance
of the serious and keen
investing public especially
on the investment related
sessions. Consequently,
for non-share owners of
icapital.bizBerhad to gain
a guaranteed admission
in Day 2, non-share
owners will need to pay
a small sum of RM68
(inclusive of GST). Once
the capacity of the halls is
reached, registration will
be closed. We hope that
this will assist in improving
the management of the
Investor Day logistics.
Day 1 will still be a
free admission session
for share and non-share
owners, like in the past
years.

When you think you know
what you know, you think you
know what you don’t know. But
after you have succeeded, this
generally comes from the fact
that you only know what you
know.
You don’t know what is the
huge area that you don’t know.”

To make way for this special
Volume 28, Number 1 issue,
i
Capital will continue its history of
value investing next week.
Departing from our usual practise,
I am writing this week’s column in
my capacity as managing director of
Capital Dynamics. As I write Volume
28, Number 1, I can see that
i
Capital has come a long way.
From an 8-page A4 black and
white newsletter, it is now a full
colour investment tabloid. As the
photos show, the visual change is
dramatic. The quantity of contents
has also been expanded and its
quality enhanced. So, what defines
i
Capital ? And what defines Capital
Dynamics ? What defines the people
who work at Capital Dynamics ? In
our 27 years, we have always given
more than what our clients paid for.
In managing people, I have always
treated all of them as colleagues
and have always pushed and
motivated them to push their limits.
As Mihaly Csikszentmihalyl said:
“The best moments in our lives are
not the passive, receptive, relaxing
times……The best moments usually
occur if a person’s body or mind is
stretched to its limits in a voluntary
effort to accomplish something
difficult and worthwhile”.
